INSIDE THE LaSALLE REPORT
The state this morning dropped the Inspector General report into the outbreak of COVID-19 that killed 36 residents at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home last fall.
We break down the 50 page report here.
The report is damning of both the failure to handle the outbreak inside the home, and the oversight provided by the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
REACTION
Governor JB Pritzker, Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris), Rep. Lance Yednock (D-Ottawa), House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) and others had reaction to the LaSalle report throughout the day. Catch up here.
BUSTOS OUT
As I was up to my ears in the LaSalle story today, our Ben Garbarek dove in to the surprise announcement from Congresswoman Cheri Bustos that she won’t seek re-election next year. She had a closer-than-expected race last year, but had become a powerful Democrat in DC.
Here’s Ben’s report with reaction from Sen. Dick Durbin, Rock Island County Dem Chair Derek Jones, and Congresswoman Robin Kelly.
