THE ILLINOIZE: The post-Labor Day final stretch begins...catching up after the holiday
September 6, 2022
Good morning, Illinois.
The day after Labor Day means it is 63 days to the November 8 General Election. While Labor Day is traditionally the “kickoff” to the fall campaign, the late primary this year meant the campaign never really stopped.
Interestingly, none of the candidates for Governor or U.S. Senate publicized their Labor Day campaign stops ahead of time. We found out Kathy Salvi was in Schaumburg, the Governor was in the Quad Cities, and Darren Bailey was in south suburban Robbins at some point over the weekend, but they never let the media know. UPDATE: Bailey walked in a parade in Naperville Monday, but, as before, didn’t let the media know.
Makes a lot of sense.
Obviously with the holiday yesterday we didn’t get a chance to do a ton of enterprise stuff for you. So, you’ll find some links below to enjoy as we get into the swing of the week.
We’ll be back tomorrow with our weekly Livestream and podcast at noon. We’re live on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter and we’ll post it later in the day to your favorite podcast platforms (Apple, Google, Spotify, Amazon, etc.). We’ll be joined by Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) and political analyst Paul Lisnek of WGN-TV.
In the meantime, let me know what’s on your mind. Drop me a note at patrick@theillinoize.com.
In honor of our second anniversary, we’re offering a free month if you buy a year subscription. Just click below to get in on all of the action!
Let’s get to it.
