The spring session is done. The House adjourned at 4:51 a.m., nine whole minutes ago.
Has anyone found Aaron Ortiz yet?
The budget nearly fell apart at 4:30 in the morning as it took Democrat three tries and some parliamentary tricks to get their package of tax hikes across the finish line. Not a banner night for the institution.
“Nobody ever said the House was boring,” House Speaker Chris Welch said on the floor a couple of minutes ago.
What happened? I’ll play it all back for you a little later today, I don’t have enough time and need a little sleep to get it all spelled out. (And I have 9 minute to send time.)

HOUSE APPROVES BUDGET, SENDS TO GOVERNOR
A Fiscal Year 2025 budget is now in Governor JB Pritzker’s hands.
The House of Representatives passed the $53 billion spending plan overnight while the majority of the citizens they represent slept.
