THE ILLINOIZE: Happy Adjournment Day...Who benefits from budget deal?

Good morning, subscribers.
It is adjournment day here in Springfield and it appears the heaviest haul, the state budget, is all but wrapped up. But there remain lots of open issues on outstanding issues, especially on crime. I did a visit on WLS Radio yesterday morning and the host was hankerin’ (that’s a country word) to talk about crime.
The Senate gavels in at 10:30 and the House gavels in at 11 for the final time until October, probably.
Subscribers will get updates throughout the day. I’ll also try to wrap everything up for you all in the morning before we turn our attention to the June primary.

DEMS REACH BUDGET DEAL
More than 90% of Illinois families will receive direct cash payments, grocery and gasoline taxes will be cut, and local governments will receive more funding in a budget deal announced by Governor JB Pritzker and the two legislative leaders Thursday afternoon.
Pritzker, House Democrats, and Senate Democrats had all introduced competing tax plans to provide some level of relief from high gas prices and increased costs due to inflation.
