BREAKING: Madigan indicted

Here’s the 22-count, 106-page indictment against former House Speaker Michael Madigan.

U.S. Attorney John Lausch is just finishing up his news conference. Madigan and Mike McClain, a former state representative, retired lobbyist, and top confidante of the longtime Speaker are named in the indictment.

The charges include racketeering conspiracy, bribery, official misconduct, and legislative misconduct.

Madigan, who turns 80 in April, has long been the center of ethical clouds, but many thought he would never be caught. The charges are seemingly mostly tied to the Commonwealth Edison bribery case.
